Erika Clegg

Co-founder and Creative Strategist

Erika launched Spring in 2006 after a decade in London, first at Bell Pottinger and then as Client Services Director at Attik. The agency combines a few of her favourite things: creative energy, bright people and Southwold. Erika is also a Board Director of the Design Business Association, a Trustee of Norwich Theatre Royal and a British business ambassador for UKTI. She lives just outside Southwold and enjoys the beach (especially sea swimming), high and low culture and her bright yellow classic Saab 900.

Simon Hazelgrove

Client Services Director

Since co-founding Spring in 2006, Simon has jointly headed the growth of the company, working with some of the agency’s largest clients on a day-to-day basis as well as overseeing the company’s production activities. Previously owner of London’s largest architectural photography studio, Simon holds on to his sense of adventure through cycling and other explorations whilst enjoying his young family.

Lucia Maclachlan

Account Executive

Having spent her childhood jetting back and forth between Singapore and Oulton Broad, Lucia is a Suffolk girl at heart and recently returned to Southwold after graduating from Bournemouth University. She is eager to kick off a career in communications and looks forward to working with the Springers!

George Bennett

Senior Designer

George started at Spring in 2009 straight from university and has worked his way through the company to become Senior Designer. George’s ability to design beautiful things that come to life in print, digital and real world is matched only by his talent for a pun. For George, design is all about finding that perfect balance between craft and strategy – work should be beautiful, and it should be there for a reason. So committed to the agency is George that he moved house to cut his morning commute from five minutes on foot, to three.

Gene Chui

Account Director

Gene joined the Spring team fresh from global communications agency Ketchum, where he worked on campaigns including Nissan’s sports sponsorship programmes and Proctor & Gamble grooming.

He has invaluable strategic communications experience leading integrated teams on PR, events, digital and design and also finds the time to combine running marathons with being a real foodie.

A Norfolk local, Gene grew up in Great Yarmouth and attended Norwich School before heading off to the London College of Fashion.

Steve Sharp

Creative Strategist

Steve’s award winning career has seen him specialise in Retail Food and Fashion Marketing, leading to his main Board role with Marks & Spencer. Here he steered transformational campaigns including the creation of Your M&S food advertising dubbed “Food Porn” by the media, and the groundbreaking Plan A Corporate Social Responsibility programme. A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, The Marketing Society and The Royal Society of Arts, Steve is a Doctor and Visiting Professor of Glasgow Caledonian University, which incorporates the Scottish campus and those in London and New York. Glen Cone

Senior Designer

Glen’s been here pretty much from the start, and is a popular and pivotal part of agency life. He’s always on the go – when he’s not creating fantastic digital and brand design, he’s playing with his kids, late-night surfing or working on the skateboard brand, Jubilee, he owns with fellow Springer, George. He loves the diversity of projects, the opportunity to work with really inspiring colleagues and the work-life balance.

Sean Antonioli

Originally from New York, and with the cheesecake making skills to prove it, Sean is a Graphic Design graduate of the University of Suffolk. His earlier life experiences include working in Venice as an apprentice gondola builder and building Christmas window displays for Macy’s and Sak’s Fifth Avenue.

Laura Marfell-Williams

Senior Account Manager/Directrice Clientèle

Laura brings her combination of fluent French, organisational expertise and PR experience to the Spring talent pool. An adoptive East Anglian, by way of Paris and London, shes worked in fashion, construction and professional services. Home life is equally busy with two daughters and community fundraising activities in her small Norfolk village.

Lena 0’Shea

Business Development Consultant

Lena joined the team after swapping 15 years expertise managing a UK top 10 communications agency for a breath of Southwold sea air. She is passionate about helping brands achieve their goals and works alongside us all to ensure Spring realises its ambition to grow and evolve as best in class. She loves the dynamic yet nurturing nature of the team and balances her working life with her family, love for live music and the great outdoors.

Lynton Wall Palmer

It was the birds that won him the job. Lynton turned up for his interview with a fabulous graduate portfolio, of which the stand out pieces were exquisite hand-drawn finches. Since then, he’s grown into a supremo of well-crafted design as well as our resident scamper, illustrator and story-boarder. These skills came into their own in Spring’s National Trust ‘Remember When..?” project. He loves the working environment at Spring, not to mention its proximity to the sea; and balances his creative sensibilities with an obsession with pretty much any type of sport.

Rob Chittock

Web Developer

Robert, born-and-bred in Suffolk, combines his creative eye for detail and web development knowledge to build websites from the ground up, using the latest web technologies and cross browser knowledge, developing bespoke and accessible solutions. Outside of work, Robert is a keen cyclist and bass player, who also enjoys cooking and travelling.

Jessica Topham

Community Engagement Director

Jessica is an experienced PR practitioner who plans and delivers strategic community and stakeholder engagement for planning applications. One day she’s handling a wildlife-friendly solar farm consultation, the next a new home for a football club. She loves that the Spring team provides the creative skills she needs to offer a full service to her clients, including design, print production and web development. Jess enjoys travelling and especially sampling local foods when she gets there.

Richard Revell

Richard is an award winning writer who, before joining Spring, had written for companies including Waterstones Booksellers and Nationwide Building Society. Heading up our content development team, Richard also contributes the words to ad campaigns, brochures and articles. He’s reveling (‘scuse us) in the range of work he can undertake at Spring: on day two he found himself interviewing childhood idol Michaela Strachan. He’s a sport-mad, book-devouring, devoted husband and dad.

Nikki Berry

Account Director

Nikki’s a ray of sunshine with a determined streak, who revels in working with a range of clients including EDF Energy and Mark Harrod. Described by one senior client as “the best account manager I’ve ever had”, Nikki enjoys the freedom Spring has always given her to have great ideas and work as part of a friendly, supportive team. She spends sunny weekends on the beach with her beloved dog and new husband.

Rebecca Clegg

Rebecca is Spring’s proofreader and also undertakes research in the lead up to creative briefing. She loves the way the Springers work well together, and the happy atmosphere of the studio. She enjoys the challenge and responsibility of proof reading. Arguably her greatest contribution to Spring happened in 1973, when she became Mum to co-founder Erika.

Greg Quinton

Creative Consultant

Greg is, in his other life, Executive Creative Director of The Partners, the UK’s most consistently awarded brand and design agency for 30 years (and fourth in D&AD history). At Spring Greg acts as an external support and mentor to the creative team, helping us to build our reputation as one of Britain’s most exciting young agencies.

Su Whitelock

Finance Manager

Su joined Spring in 2014, returning to work after bringing up her three children. Su’s background is in accountancy and database management, previously working for firms including PKF and Lovewell Blake. She lives close to Beccles and enjoys her garden especially growing her own vegetables. The new addition to her family is Boomer, a very active Cocker Spaniel.
