Glen Cone

Designer

Glen’s early love of skateboarding led him to choose a career in graphic design – he sees the skateboarding scene as heavily design led, with its own medium for design in the shape of the board. Having been sponsored by a chain of skate shops in his late teens, who provided him with kit, clothes, training facilities and tours, he launched his design career by attending NUCA, England’s leading specialist arts university.

A particular highlight of his education was a tour of the Bauhaus archive in Berlin and the buildings at Dessau, visiting the homes of its teachers like Gropius and Kandinsky. He considers this to have had a great influence on his later work.

Glen joined Spring as a graduate trainee early in the agency’s life, and progressed rapidly thanks to a combination of talent, enthusiasm, experience and training. He is our leading digital designer, with a broad range of projects under his belt for governments, fashion clients, food and drinks brands across eCommerce, blog and bespoke CMS platforms.

In his free time Glen has set up a skating brand, Jubilee, with colleague George Bennett, and is, in his words, ‘defined’ by his growing family – seven year old Rudy and another on the way – hence his studio nickname, Daddy.

I love the broad range of projects that I get to work on for clients as diverse as governments, fashion clients and food and drink brands, with briefs from eCommerce to blog and bespoke CMS platforms. My colleagues are great and our studio location is beautiful - you can't beat a lunch time swim!
