An outline application for the ‘Q1’ scheme was submitted in May 2014 following the pre-application consultation period held in November and December last year, which attracted overwhelming local support for the plans (76%).
Spring was appointed to develop a consultation strategy for the major scheme, and run the engagement process with the wide variety of local stakeholders.
Initially, we mapped the key stakeholders, including politicians, community groups, immediate neighbours and the wider community. We developed a Community Engagement Plan that was approved by Boston Borough Council prior to the consultation launching.
Two public exhibitions, an interactive website, newsletters, project briefings, press articles and engagement with football fans all helped to inform and involve over 400 people in consultation, with more than 300 expressing their support.
Acting as the main point of contact for any enquiries, we compiled all feedback and produced the comprehensive Statement of Community Consultation, which was submitted with the outline planning application.
Community engagement will be on-going throughout the planning and determination process, with consultation on detailed proposals for Q1 next, before plans are developed and consulted on for the second stage of the project, Q2.
Spring is also working on a number of other proposals with Chestnut Homes.
