Spring have been completely integral to the growth of Smart Garden Offices. Planning
Charlie Dalton is our kinda guy. Having decided to set it up Smart Garden Offices five years ago, he retrained as a carpenter in order to design and patent his unique interlocking components that allow Smart offices to be wired, insulated and constructed with minimum fuss, cost and wastage. We admire that spirit as it mirrors our own desire to get right to the heart of a project from the start.

Working with Charlie to set out his goals for growth, we created a Marketing Programme for 18 months, encompassing a new brand look and feel, suite of printed materials (important in the heavily meetings-based sales process) and a new website. 

We planned an on and off line ad campaign, booking media and helping Charlie write a brief for, interview and select an SEO company.

 

Creative
Bearing in mind the audience - ranging from consultants to people needing extra space for their kids, granny or hobbies-- we have steered clear of target market assumptions and concentrated on the product. Our finding was that spec-to-price value is the main motivator to purchase, so we concentrated on easy to read specification information, clear photography, detailed plans and well-written descriptions of construction materials and methods.

The design allows photography, specification tables and drawings and text to command both the printed page and on line. All content - photography, technical illustration and copy - was created from scratch from the start of the project, to ensure that complete brand consistency is upheld.

 

Application
As we have followed the Marketing Programme we have constantly evaluated and adapted the process to allow for sales targets, market fluctuations and response to existing materials. At the start of year two - the third stage of the Marketing Programme - for example, we changed the dominant deep blue base shade to a warm green, which better represents the character of the purchasers with which Smart has achieved the best results.

Charlie kindly puts much of his success and the clarity of his business direction to Spring's input. We know he's brilliant, and are proud to be part of Smart.

Our brand revamp for Smart is matched by high spec print to show the blueprints for a garden office on a suitably corporate blue base. Every product has its own brochure, which - in the manner of a car catalogue - contains detailed specifications and photography.

Smart's offices range from the Micro, which at just 7' x 7' is room enough for a desk and small enough to fit into the tiniest garden, to the Quarto, which is nearly 18' x 10' and provides accommodation for a small company or hobbies which require decent workspace.
