CSR
Corporate responsibility is embedded in the DNA of Spring. We are great believers in our responsibilities to those who come into contact with Spring and this is something on which our Board takes a strong lead.
|
Our responsibilities start with our staff, clients and suppliers. It's important that our promises are kept, and that our standards of decision making, communication and delivery are high. This makes complete business sense, as well as being a good way to operate. Where possible, we use local suppliers for bought in items such as print, and we endeavour always to recruit locally and provide ongoing training and support at all levels of the company to hone talent. Where we recruit from further afield, generally at a senior level, we support the new Springer with the move - often involving families and working spouses. Spring ensures that our impact on our home and wider community is to the good. |
Our largest ongoing community project is The Southwold Concert Series, now in its third season and drawing crowds of 250+ to our home town, to enjoy classical musicians from across the globe. Spring donates one of our own marketing programmes to the Series, which we launched with artistic director Nathan Williamson in 2007. We brand, publicise, print and digitally market the events. In addition Spring's head office is also the box office, and we underwrite all expenses, picking up the difference when costs exceed income as is so often the case in community arts ventures.
|
We are also contributors to The Suffolk Foundation, The Southwold Lifeboat, Compassion in World Farming, Southwold Christmas Lights and Sophie's World Record amongst a host of other charitable activities. Erika Clegg is a pro bono board director of the New Anglia LEP, the body created by the coalition government when regional development agencies were abolished. This organisation is private sector led, and is tasked with creating jobs and a suitable environment for growth across Norfolk and Suffolk. Erika's involvement in this is rooted in her and Spring's desire to see the region grow strongly over the next few decades. |
